With a big influence from Brazil, in the last 20 to 40 years, and with a big “bond” between both countries, this has influenced the development of the so-called typical
shopping
centres
or malls. Also very American influenced, but also very typical of Brazilian culture, Portugal soon saw the
business
model as an opportunity for the Portuguese.
Portugal has a series of shopping centres, that are complete in every way, with
cinemas
,
shops
with brand clothing, household items, appliances, supermarkets. They are authentic
cities
full of a variety of products and services, some have outdoor spaces which open to the sun so you can enjoy the weather while shopping.
All with ample parking and many facilities, so that a consumer can go to one
destination
and find absolutely everything you need - it's entertainment, food, clothing, etc. - can find everything. All brands, for all
tastes
and budgets.
These shopping centres usually open from the morning till night, usually at 10 am, until 10 - 11 pm - while the cinemas may close later. Open 7 days a week, they are often never closed, unless it's a National
holiday
or special occasion.
The
street
trade
still
exists, and has remained reasonably well, where you can find many different shops, from more designer shops with contemporary furniture, to a
traditional
hardware
store
served by a typical old man. Many still
retain
their authenticity and history, while many others have opted for a new look, younger, with a different image.
The street trade is also usually open around 9 or 10 in the morning and, depending on the activity, close around 7 pm (1 hour lunch with most, although many do not close)! - Monday - Friday, although most are generally open only half the day on Wednesday.
