Albufeira

As well as being a municipality, its capital, also called Albufeira is a coastal town located in the District of Faro in the western Algarve.

Albufeira opened up the Algarve to the world, and it was pioneer in the 1960’s of promoting the region. Soon it began to grow and has been established as a popular destination amongst many nationalities.

It is by its excellent reputation, seen as one of the most famous, and the oldest resort destination in the Algarve. Served with very good hotels, famous restaurants and nightlife, and all types of amenities.
It is typical Portuguese, an old fishing village, with arched cobbled streets leading down the hill to the beach. The al fresco dining in the mains Praças (squares) offers tasty grilled fish with fresh vegetables from local farms. Albufeira is a city full of stories, from its castle in Islamic times to the conquest of Alfonso III, to the stories of today. A well reputed and recognized destination since the 60’s it has not lost its lively nightlife with various bars and cafes within the walls and chapels make this a point of cultural exchange.
