Alcoutim

Alcoutim is a beautiful town on the banks of the Guadiana River in the most eastern part of Algarve, north of Vila Real de Santo Antonio. Its most visited tourist attraction is the castle that dominates the summit. Is strategically located and is believed to have been used as a port before the Phoenician times, due to its deposits of magnesium and copper. Today there is a nice walkway beside the river, with cafes, bars and restaurants. A perfect place for a bike ride, or even take a boat trip down the river.
Alcoutim is the capital of the municipality and the parishes that compose the municipality of Alcoutim are; Giões, Martim Longo, Pereiro and Vaqueiros
