Lagoa

Located in the heart of the "Barlovento Algarvio” - Western Algarve, Lagoa is a very important town as well as a Municipality, situated between the town of Silves and Portimão. With diverse landscape ranging from precious mountain views in the countryside, to amazingly formed cliffs with beautiful white sandy beaches. Its main industries are agriculture, fishing and tourism. With very fertile lands in the region, the local agriculture and produce are extremely high quality.
It has always been an important fishing port, as well as a salt tank region. During the 60’s, Lagoa experienced the economic boom of tourism in the Algarve. This boom as always has been accompanied by the creation of service industries, civil construction and commerce in general.
Today it is one of the most well-known and important tourist destinations within the Algarve, not only due to the beauty and diversity of beaches, but also the good infra structure it has such as luxury hotels, golf courses, and cultural heritage.
The environment has always been of great concern for most Portuguese people - thus guaranteeing that many areas of the Algarve are preserved. Not only conserving its coastline, but its typical ancient architecture, and integrating the modern without environmental impact – (where high-rise buildings have no place) - (Vilamoura, Portimão, Albufeira)
