Vila do Bispo
In an environment of dramatic beauty, the mystical atmosphere of Cabo de San Vicente take us back to times of dragons, castles, and fierce battles against the sea. Unearthed Prehistoric evidence, dates the "Promontorium Sacrum" back to ancient times. Dedicated to Saturn, it reminds us of the rites and legends that surround the cliffs and beaches. A reference point for those men that sailed of to discover new lands, and came back intoxicated with their adventures. The tip of Europe, the most western part of the European continent, is without a doubt a legendary and very mystical place, a place that impacts on the souls of every visitor.
Important to remember and mention is the figure of Prince Henrique (William), or the Navigator who fought to turn Sagres into the most important port of Europe competing with Cadiz, though his efforts were laid to rest with him when he died. Vila do Bispo is a place worth visiting, strong winds, abrupt nature and the constant presence of the sea create unforgettable emotions.
